Charity Involvement
Community involvement is very important at Gametime Bingo. On an annual basis, Bingo Centres have generated between $60 million and $70 million in funding to well over 2000 local community charities. This couldn’t be done without the help of more than 60,000 volunteers who assist in carrying out Bingo events each year.
Organizations which have used Bingo funds to provide services to their local communities include: Women’s shelters, food banks, children’s programs, hospitals, youth sports programs, service clubs, family counseling programs, after-school support programs, youth shelters, health organizations, and cultural programs.
You can click below to see a cross-section of charities we support, but here are a couple of examples of how Bingo benefits our communities:
Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation – Thunder Bay Chapter
The Thunder Bay Chapter of the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is just one example of how Gametime Bingo supports communities across the province. People with CF need regular check-ups and specialized clinical services that can require long trips to major urban centres. The work of the Thunder Bay chapter of the CCFF means that people with CF no longer have to leave Thunder Bay for the semi-annual check-ups they require. Funds raised through Bingo support roughly 1/3 of this vital organization’s annual operating budget.
St. Mary’s Skating Club
Support for local organizations can also help kids lead fun and active lives. The St. Mary’s Skating Club has been teaching kids to skate for over 30 years. Money raised from bingo helps to support skating lessons for kids as young as 3. For many kids, this opens the door to an active life, playing hockey and ringette. St. Mary’s also provides coaching and support for competitive skaters.
